Where words fail
music speaks

Our Mission

Zach’s Playce supports a safe and positive program in Ramat Beit Shemesh for children and teens from age 8 to 19, where they can enjoy the Arts with subsidized lessons in music, art and other creative disciplines. The program is a fun and warm music club that the teens will ‘own’ and have a hand in running on a day-to-day basis. This non-profit program will allow youth and adolescents to discover their innate abilities and talents in a non-judgmental and accepting environment.  Zach’s Playce will be an essential part of the community that will give back at least 1000-fold and instill higher self-esteem, confidence and creative skills for the teens.

Youth are naturally drawn to music and arts and this creative opportunity will give them positive reinforcement, mentorship and a healthy expression through their artistic efforts. At Zach’s Playce, they will feel safe to experiment and learn from their mistakes within this artistic environment that encourages them to push the boundaries and not be afraid to express their unique neshamas.

FounderMeet
Moshe Myers

A music teacher for over 30 years, I am a concert Jazz Pianist and was lucky enough to infect my children with the music bug – when I am not teaching music or working on Zach’s PLAYce you may come across me traying to raise money for phenomenal Jewish institutions like AISH.

Our Goal

We are currently partnering with and will utilize the space at the Harel school on Refaim in RBSA, thanks to the encouragement of the Vice-Mayor of Beit Shemesh and the principal of this school, where this past year they have had a music program running for their first year. (Called “Tzliel”)

Together we are looking to grow the attendance of youth and teens in our music programs and make it affordable. Up until now, the parents have had to pay full fees for the music lessons and the concept of Zach’s Playce is to allow those families that cannot afford to give their children music lessons, a range of subsidies to fit their budget. Our goal is to make sure that no child or teen is turned away that wants to study music with us and take part in the fun music concerts, kumsitz sessions, and combo groups to test their skills in real performances. We have two separate streams for boys and girls.

We BeH hope to have over 60 students attend Zach’s Playce lessons and programs this coming year, with the goal to continually grow this number. Our budget is just over 400,000 nis (Or about $125,000 USD), for the coming year and this will allow us to pay teachers, madrichim (counselors for the Music Club/Moadon), operating costs, equipment/instrument costs, etc.

Our Ask

We currently have a basic financial commitment from the City of Beit Shemesh to help towards funding the music programs and moadon/club we are running in partnership with Tzliel and the local school. We have also begun to raise funds from local residents who see the great value in providing a low-priced music and art program to keep our youth off the street and involved in a constructive and fun activity at Zach’s Playce.

Those parents who need a subsidy will fill out a simple form and we would ask them to pay from 100 to 200nis per month per child if they are able to cover that. If not, we will review and find an amount they can manage so that BeH no teen has to be turned away from enjoying the lessons and fun music program.
